How to use
- Choose cm or m → feet & inches, or feet & inches → cm.
- Enter your height. Decimals are fine, like 5 ft 8.5 in or 1.75 m.
- Read the answer, plus the nearest inch, meters and total inches. Or tap a common height.
How the conversion works
inches = cm ÷ 2.54
feet = whole part of (inches ÷ 12), and the rest stays as inches
cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54
One inch is exactly 2.54 cm and one foot is exactly 12 inches, so the only rounding is in the answer you see. Extra inches carry into feet: 5 ft 12 in is the same as 6 ft 0 in.
Examples
- 170 cm: 170 ÷ 2.54 = 66.93 in = 5 ft 6.9 in, about 5′ 7″
- 5 ft 8 in: (5 × 12 + 8) × 2.54 = 68 × 2.54 = 172.72 cm
- 6 ft: 72 × 2.54 = 182.88 cm

Why sites disagree by an inch
175 cm is 5 ft 8.9 in. Rounding to the nearest inch gives 5′ 9″, but some forms drop the decimal and show 5′ 8″.
We show the exact value to one decimal and the nearest whole inch, so you can pick what a form asks for.
