Quick actions

Converted text: Title Case

Type or paste your text above, then pick a case.

Every word starts with a capital; the rest of the word is lower case. Words already written with capitals inside, such as NASA or iPhone, are kept.

How to use

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Tap a case: UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE or aLtErNaTiNg.
  3. For Title Case, choose Capitalise every word or Keep small words lower case (APA style).
  4. Press Copy result to copy the converted text. Your text is never uploaded or put in the link.

How each case works

Each row converts “the lord of the rings”:

Case Rule Result
Title Case Every word starts with a capital The Lord Of The Rings
Title Case (APA) Short articles, joining words and prepositions stay small, except at the start The Lord of the Rings
Sentence case A capital only at the start of each sentence and for “I” The lord of the rings
camelCase Joined, with a capital for each word after the first theLordOfTheRings
PascalCase Joined, with a capital for every word TheLordOfTheRings
snake_case Small letters joined by underscores the_lord_of_the_rings
kebab-case Small letters joined by hyphens the-lord-of-the-rings
CONSTANT_CASE Capitals joined by underscores THE_LORD_OF_THE_RINGS
  • Words that already have capitals inside, such as NASA or iPhone, are kept in Title and Sentence case. If the whole text is in capitals, every word is converted.
  • UPPER and lower case follow the Unicode rules, so ß becomes SS. The Turkish option turns i into İ and I into ı.

Example

Tap Try a sample title to load “a short guide to the history of the internet: from ARPANET to the iPhone”.

  • Title Case (APA): A Short Guide to the History of the Internet: From ARPANET to the iPhone. “From” gets a capital because it follows a colon.
  • snake_case: a_short_guide_to_the_history_of_the_internet_from_arpanet_to_the_i_phone
The exact rules
  • APA small words: a, an, the, and, as, but, for, if, nor, or, so, yet, at, by, in, of, off, on, per, to, up and via. Words of four letters or more, such as “with”, always get a capital.
  • New title parts start after a colon, a dash or end punctuation, so their first word gets a capital.
  • Sentence case can’t recognise names, so check names of people and places afterwards.
  • Code cases split words at spaces, punctuation and case changes: XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request. Digits stay with their word (base64Encode becomes base64_encode), apostrophes are dropped, and each line is converted separately.

Frequently asked questions

What is title case?

Title case starts each main word with a capital, as in book titles. Style guides differ on small words: APA style keeps short words such as “of” and “the” lower case.

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalises most words. Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence, plus names, just like ordinary writing.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?

Ways to join words without spaces in code. camelCase capitalises each word after the first, snake_case joins lower-case words with underscores, and kebab-case joins them with hyphens.

Why didn’t my acronyms change?

Title and sentence case keep words that already have capitals inside, such as NASA or iPhone. If your whole text is in capitals, every word is converted.

Does it work with accents and other alphabets?

Yes. It follows the Unicode case rules, so é becomes É and ß becomes SS. Choose the Turkish rules to turn i into İ and I into ı.

Is my text stored anywhere?

No. Conversion happens in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, saved or added to the page link; only the case you pick goes in a shared link.
