How to use
- Choose Paragraphs, Sentences or Words, and how many.
- Keep or turn off the classic opening, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…”.
- Pick Plain text or HTML paragraphs, then press Copy result.
- Press New random text for a different version. The seed in the link rebuilds the same text for anyone you share it with.
Where lorem ipsum comes from
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin. It comes from Cicero’s “De finibus bonorum et malorum” (On the Ends of Good and Evil), book 1, sections 32–33. Cicero lived from 106 to 43 BC.
His sentence begins “Neque porro quisquam est, qui dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit, amet, consectetur, adipisci velit…”. Roughly: no one loves pain itself simply because it is pain. Cut “dolorem” to “lorem”, drop a few words, and you have the famous opening.
How the generator works
- Words come from a list of 210 Latin words: the standard passage below plus Cicero’s sections 32–33.
- Each sentence has 5 to 14 words, and each paragraph has 4 to 7 sentences.
- A seed number drives Marsaglia’s xorshift random generator, so the same seed and settings always give the same text.
Examples
| Settings | Result |
