How to convert degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit
°F = °C × 1.8 + 32
°F = °C × 1.8 + 32, exactly (NIST SP 811 B.9 gives t/°C = (t/°F − 32)/1.8). There is no single factor, because the scales have different zero points.
Examples
- 37 °C = 98.6 °F: Average normal body temperature (MedlinePlus) (MedlinePlus (NIH))
- 38 °C = 100.4 °F: NHS threshold for a high temperature in adults (NHS)
- 4 °C = 39.2 °F: FDA's refrigerator limit, as given in Celsius (U.S. FDA)
Celsius to fahrenheit chart

| 4 °C | 39.2 °F |
| 10 °C | 50 °F |
| 20 °C | 68 °F |
| 25 °C | 77 °F |
| 30 °C | 86 °F |
| 37 °C | 98.6 °F |
| 38 °C | 100.4 °F |
| 40 °C | 104 °F |
| 100 °C | 212 °F |
| 180 °C | 356 °F |
| 200 °C | 392 °F |
Common mistakes
- A temperature change converts without the +32: a rise of 10 °C is a rise of 18 °F, not 50 °F.
- Rounded pairs on official pages can disagree: the FDA pairs 40 °F with 4 °C, but 4 °C is exactly 39.2 °F.
